The upcoming SouthSounds Music and Arts Festival is 65 music artists at 14 different downtown Mobile venues, April 7th through the 9th, 2017.
SouthSounds Music and Arts Festival stated mission is to showcase the best in up-and-coming and independent Southern Music. The lineup of the festival, while extremely eclectic, favors indie rock. Other genres represented include country, bluegrass, metal, soul, funk, blues, r&b, and hip-hop.
Organizers of the annual festival invite bands based not on their current success but for their passion and potential. These bands on the ticket may not be famous (yet) but they are invited to play because they are good and deserve more exposure.
SouthSounds Music and Arts Festival can be looked at as musical evangelism; the organizers are hoping you will find your new favorite band at the show.
2017 marks the sixth anniversary of this annual festival, held the second weekend of every April, and promises to be bigger than ever. The SouthSounds Festival is presented at various locations around Mobile's downtown. Attendees will be able to choose from over 75 shows throughout the 3-day festival, all within easy walking distance of each other.
