The 28th annual Taste of the Bayou, scheduled for September 24th, 2016 is almost here! Taste of the Bayou is a popular, annual seafood competition using fresh, Bayou La Batre seafood to compete - and you get to be the judge!
$80 million of commercial seafood come out of Bayou La Batre each year. Consequently, Bayou La Batre is known as the Seafood Capitol of Alabama! It makes total sense to have such an amazing event like this right here in Bayou La Batre.
Taste of the Bayou is the area's premiere Southern seafood tasting event. It's a seafood cooking competition and tasting event featuring seafood dishes prepared by teams of local chefs. The teams can compete in any or all of the 4 categories: General Seafood Dish -Restaurant, General Seafood Dish -Non-Restaurant, Gumbo, and Dessert.
Attendees can expect to see more than thirty booths serving Southern-style seafood specialties in the form of appetizers, main and side-dishes, desserts, and more. Sourced from both gourmet tradition and family recipes handed down from generation to generation, the only restriction is that seafood from Bayou La Batre must be the foundation of the dish.
Furthermore, the best part of the whole shebang is that YOU get to be one of the judges! Your Taste of the Bayou general admission ticket gets you a sample of everything at the event! Taste of the Bayou is for you if you've a taste for things like boiled shrimp, marinated crab claws, lobster bisque, pasta, and gumbo!
